patterns are cool
my name is cj
i draw and sometimes do other things.
i have a webcomic called STEREOPHONIC.
patterns are cool
a set of things that weren’t totally meant to be a set, oop.
I drew some floral patterns for class so I’m putting them to alternate use.
A doodle of Alex and Elliot from Stereophonic, which is a REALLY NEAT comic that I highly recommend! It’s really cute and got a great atmosphere, and the designs for everything are phenomenal. I’m really excited about it.
Oh man, this is such a fabulous surprise!! They look so nice in your style
I LOVE IT thank youuu.
A collection of some of the paintings I did for today’s update. It feels very unifying to see them all together because its such a weird experience making art “in-character”, so to speak, especially when relating to a specific time period or set of established visual elements associated with a movement. Considering the amount of time I took refining these (and loads more) I’m pretty happy with them, although I know there’s still quite a few elements that feel a little disingenuous. But I guess digital mediums imitating traditional ones tend to have those limitations, color display, rendering of texture and consistency…lots of stuff. Anyway, I’m gonna get to do this imitation stuff a million more times in a bunch of different styles and media through out the course of the comic, so it’ll be fun to develop my process. Isn’t art history fun, kids?
I can’t get over how rad the outfits in the latest chapter are, ugh!!
sorry for the silence lately, here’s a thing!
spending your entire childhood pretending to be the everly brothers with your best friend B)
who wants to watch me get drunk and sing EVERY Lonnie Donegan song???
that’s right, everyone does.
Rosie’s finally gonna be in the next chapter and I’m glad because I love drawing her and I had no idea it’d take so long to get to this point hahaa.
On a similar note as my last post, here’s a quick silly comic I drew a while ago. Its about Cece bleaching her hair and takes place about 6 months before the start of Stereophonic.
You gotta do the click through thingy to read it because of my janky hand-lettering haaa.
I’ve been thinking about Alex and Cece a bit lately and how weird it is writing an “off-screen” relationship that has pretty strong effects on the plot of a story. I guess its just easy to forget that even when you only see two characters post-break-up, that at some point they were a happy, semi-functioning couple haha. I’ve actually written quite a bit for them that’ll never appear in the comic, but you can’t show everything, I suppose.
Anyways, that’s why I have this blog to yell about my characters on, so here’s some lovey stuff YUCK.
I was trying to work out Elliot’s outfit for the next chapter but ended up playing dress up instead.
I’m still not sure which I like best, I might end up using most of these at some point. Thoughts?
winter mornings are great in theory but miserable in practice
